Surfing is so 90s...
...yet it is still the best way to find the unexpected. Most web users rarely go outside their own comfort zone. They probably did once, when surfin' the web was as hip as ordering a cosmopolitan and people were thought of as clever if they knew of 'this neat little site called Google'. But now they don't. They've found what they were looking for, just as they probably buy the same Sunday newspaper they always have. Okay, they might click on that link their best mate sent round on a Friday, but to explore, it's... it's so 90s.
So I went for a ramble. You probably do it all the time, but they don't.* Blogging: rambling for nerds.
1. DemosGreenhouse wonkish things
2. Newsmap beautiful, honest
3. Black Belt Jones I had to see where Demos had got the Newsmap from
4. Angermann2 - Very, very, very cool. Just avoids parking its schnoz in its sphincter. Matt Jones got it from here
5. The Untitled Project imagine a world without words and vice versa
And then I got a bit lost in Lomo blogs, some of which were very good, but the most interesting of which was, finally, 120Seconds.
*For one thing, they also know that SysAdmin is watching.

Don't know if you've seen this. Geeky but a fascinating demonstration of good information visualisation. Also it's Java so I have to like it.
